CHEVELLE Bassist: 'I Agree With Everything BUSH Stands For'
November 29, 2004Bleeding-heart liberal may be the stereotype for most rockers, but there are some young musicians in their 20s who support Bush. Take CHEVELLE bassist Joe Loeffler, for example.
"I agree with everything he (Bush) stands for," Loeffler tells the Asbury Park Press. "I voted for him four years ago. But this election was just plain obvious. Kerry had nothing. The polls of people who voted for Kerry found that they voted for him because he wasn't Bush, which doesn't make sense to me."
CHEVELLE's 2002 album, "Wonder What's Next", was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America and featured the alt-rock hits "The Red" and "Send the Pain Below". More than 500,000 copies of the band's latest album, "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)", have been sold to date.
CHEVELLE are currently on a U.S. tour supporting KORN.
"The shows are huge," Loeffler said. "There's more pressure. It's different than playing shows like we played the other night to our fans. But it's a great experience going out with KORN."
A KORN tour sounds as though it smacks of a party environment. However, don't expect the very conservative Loeffler to consume any mind-altering concoctions.
"I've never even drunk a drop of alcohol," Loeffler said. "I grew up with people getting drunk, and I didn't like being around that. I was always told not to do it. I don't, even though I'm in a band." Read more.
